Athlete’s Foot
Athlete’s foot infections, also know as Tinea Pedis, is caused by a fungus that attacks the skin of the feet. Although it is commonly referred to as “athlete’s foot,” this infection is not unique to people who participate in sports. It can affect people who are both young and old, active and sedentary. Often beginning as a mild irritation or itchy, dry skin, tinea pedis can progress into a very serious problem.
What are the symptoms of athlete’s foot?
Athlete’s foot is contagious and can spread to other parts of your body such as your hands and groin. Good hygiene is important while treating this condition to prevent the spread of the fungus to yourself or other people. You should see your podiatrist for effective treatment of athlete’s foot.
