Little Free Library

At Feet For Life, one of our core principles is investing in our community. We know that our community needs more than just excellent foot care so we are excited to announce that our Bessemer office location is now home to a Little Free Library. You will notice a beautiful little purple box outside of our office. It is filled with great books that members of our community can borrow from, and donate to, whenever you want something new to read.

Alabama has one of the worst literacy rates in the country. 15% of our adult population lacks the basic literacy skills needed to maintain a job. Many of our children are headed on that same path. With most of our libraries closed due to coronavirus, we know that access to books has become a challenge for many who lack the ability to purchase them for their families.

Dr. Pierson was raised with a great love of books and some of them have helped direct his life and transform him into who he is today. When he was a young man growing up in a poor area of western Canada, Dr. Pierson’s family couldn’t afford many of the luxuries that other children had, but library books were always available. At the age of 12, one of his youth leaders gifted him a book that would forever change the course of his life, The Choice by Og Mandino. Since that time, Dr. Pierson has always wanted to share his love of reading with the world.

Our Little Free Library sits near the street in front of our office. You don’t need to be a patient to borrow or donate.

If you want a book to read, grab one. If you have a book to donate, leave one. It’s as simple as that. There is no catch.

All we ask is that you help us by respecting it and returning books (or a different book that you enjoy) when you are done. This Little Free Library is our gift to the Bessemer community and the surrounding area! We hope to share our love of reading with you.

If you have books you’d like to donate, and the box is full, feel free to drop into the office and leave them with us. You can also slide them through our mail slot if you are shy. We will stock the box regularly. We hope you enjoy it!
